MOTHER'S DAY

We spent most of Sunday afternoon doing this...

We were looking up at these...

Our Mother's Day afternoon picnic took place at Gravelly Point. It has been years since I've spent an extended amount of time there. In fact, during the past two years the only time I've been at Gravelly Point was during a 20+ mile run. It is amazing how much more I enjoyed the park this time around compared to last October when I ran through twice (during a 22 mile out and back from our house).  I had forgotten how much fun it is to watch airplanes fly over head and land. The noise of the engines and the subsequent echo is magnificent.

The park was extremely crowded. In addition to watching airplanes land, we played many games of where is K? She seamlessly slipped into the crowd and was comfortable among the bikers, runners, and walkers.

We tossed a ball around and snacked on cheese crackers and apples. D even grabbed a 15 minute nap under the sun. We left minutes before the rain started to fall. It was such a delightful afternoon. The perfect way to spend Mother's Day together as a little family.
